Meet Jason Dufner, a 34-year-old native of Cleveland, Ohio, and graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Economics. Dufner turned professional in 2000 and now is tied for the lead at the 2011 PGA Championship in Atlanta, Georgia.

We’ve learned more about him Jason Dufner this week than we knew about him before Thursday. He, like many golfers, was a virtual unknown until he started appearing high up on the scoreboard at the PGA.

Sunday he’ll be one of two players with the top chance at winning the big prize right around dinner time. If he in fact wins the tournament, he’ll go down as one of the oddest looking major championship winners in golf history.

There have been tons of major championship winners, the majority of them having only won one major title. But by far, he would go down as one of the oddest, dare I say ugliest, major championship winners. There have been some doozies in the past.

My research shows some guys in the past with monster mustaches having won majors. If Dufner had a mustache, he’d for sure take the cake. While those men’s golden years have passed them buy, all we have is a picture of Dufner from PGA.com.

All we can do is look at him and say, “Yeah, he does look like a weirdo.” He has long, shaggy hair like I had when I was 15-years old. He has a nice beer belly. And he could be the next major champ.
