During the first half of the rivalry basketball game between Illinois and Missouri, ESPN posted up a graphic, a map, illustrating how St. Louis is the middle point for the two schools. This is the reason they play in St. Louis.
It is true that St. Louis is a middle point, but when I looked at the map I noticed something was a little off about the locations of Champaign, Ill. and Columbia, Mo. ESPN had the mileages right on the distances from St. Louis, but had Champaign, Ill. placed terribly wrong on the map of Illinois.
Apparently, ESPN thinks Champaign is a suburb of Chicago instead of a city in east-central Illinois. They need to go back to geography class. Or visit Illinois every once in a while.
