Recruit’s mommy disgusted about Landon Collins college choice

In a shocking twist, Landon Collins’ mommy didn’t slap him across the face when he told ESPN he’d be committing to Alabama — not LSU — to play football. The Collins momma appeared to have to fight back the urge to vomit all over when her son broke her heart.

Collins, the No. 1 safety prospect in the nation, was having a big game Thursday night in the Under Armour All-America Game in St. Petersburgh, Fla. That is, until the LSU fans in the stand sitting on pens and needles listened as one of the best players in the nation decided to leave the state of Louisiana for the state school’s biggest rival.

As Collins’ interview on the sideline couch with ESPN began, all signs pointed to Collins going to LSU. Collins found it necessary to correct the ESPN reporter on the scene of his hometown — stated to be New Orleans. However, the tide turned when Collins picked ‘Bama. (Play on words)

But we should’ve seen this coming right? If you look back at the video, Collins’ mom seems a little unhappy from the very start of the interview.  She must have known, right? Or was everyone in the dark about this?

Well, Collins will be having an interesting heart to heart with his mother soon (probably has already happened) when she will try to convince him LSU is the place for him to be. She will throw out all the cards. She will try threatening not to pay for college, which he will laugh about because Alabama will take care of that. She will say he can’t come home, which will be no big deal for him when he shows up in Tuscaloosa and is worshiped by fans and women. She will stop making him dinner each night, which he will be upset about but not enough to make him change his mind.

When Collins out-duels his momma, the other 10-or-so people who stood around that couch will have their go at him. It was truly one of the most awkward commitments ever on national television. Nobody applauded at the couch, mostly they were stuck in silent stares as the fans in the stadium booed for a few long seconds.

So barring some sort of SMU, 1980s pay raise from LSU, Collins’ mom has a great debacle. Root for her son or root for her team? Clearly she thinks LSU is No. 1, as she said in the interview. Will that change?

But what else should we expect from SEC fans? I mean, they get so pissed about losing they poison century-old trees which campuses and cities are built around. Who’s going to be there when Alabama beats LSU some of these next four years and Collins’ mom goes to ‘Bama to throw a rock through her son’s bedroom window (or worse)? Landon Collins will be there… to say, “What has gotten into you, ma!”

You can’t blame the momma for sticking by her team, I suppose. However, when it comes down to it and she’s wishing harm of her own son on the football field during the annual LSU-’Bama game (or even in a rematch in the BCS title game) that’s bad.

But surely that wont be the case. She’ll simply just be hoping he slips, and the dashing LSU wide receiver scores the touchdown. Unfortunately, based on the way he played in the All-America game, he will never slip. He’s a linebacker will all the traits of a defensive back. He’s going to be legit and Alabama just picked up a huge victory just days before the National Championship game, which is Monday.
