Albert Pujols is having a Bobby Rayburn season so far and it’s freaking hilarious for Cardinals’ fans to watch.
Bobby Rayburn is the character played by Wesley Snipes in “The Fan” (1996) who signs a big ole’ ridiculous contract with the San Francisco Giants, from the Atlanta Braves, and the Giants think he’s going to be their savior.
Turns out Rayburn doesn’t play well without his number or his Braves jersey. He has to wear his Braves jersey under his Giants one.
While we end up sympathetic for poor Bobby Rayburn, mainly because Robert De Niro is insane and kidnaps his kid, I can’t say the same will happen for Pujols. In the real world, people don’t really like him right now outside of the Anaheim area.
He took the money and ran, which you honestly can’t blame him for wanting to cash in on his skills. However, he’s homer-less in the first month – something we’ve never seen from him.
Maybe he’s wearing the wrong jersey.

I guess you couldn’t wait to jump on a guy who was adjusting to a new league, a new team, and a new city. It was barely a month into the season, and you’re comparing him to a Wesley Snipes role from The Fan? Well I guess you can put the comparisons behind you now since Albert has gotten his hitting touch back. He’s on pace to hit 30+ HRs, and crush at least 100 RBIs. If Albert is anything, it’s that he’s Mr consistency.
